When to Test:
Determine the length of your menstrual cycle before testing. Please note: the measured time length of a menstrual cycle is the start of your first menstrual bleeding day to the day before the next bleeding begins.
Refer to the sequence below to determine when you should start testing: If your cycle is shorter than 21 days or longer than 38 days, consult a physician. If you do not know your cycle length, you may begin the test 11 day after your first period, as the average cycle length is 28 days.
Perform 1 test per day over a 5 day period, or until the LH surge has been detected.
FDA Approved Pregnancy Midstream Tests
Test Procedure:
After urine specimen has saturated a midstream, capillary action carries the specimen to migrate along the membrane. Once hCG in the sample reaches the Test Zone region of the membrane, it will form a colored line to indicate its presence in the body. Absence of this colored line suggests a negative result. To ensure the test has been performed properly, a colored line will appear in the Control Zone regardless of hCG presence. Please note: for the most accurate results, midstream test should be taken 10-12 days after ovulation. The earliest a pregnancy test can be taken to give positive results is seven days after ovulation.
