Doppler Effect
Doppler effect is the basic principle which is employed to detect the speed of blood flow by means of ultrasound. In such a way, fetal heart beat can be heard and examined for defects, if there is any.

UCAN
Umbilical Cord Around Neck, the nuchal cord entanglement, by which Fetal distress is caused.

Fetal hypoxia
Insufficient oxygen supply to the fetus.

Fetal distress
An abnormal condition under which a fetus becomes excessively fatigued, usually characterized by an abnormal heart rhythm.

Fetal heart block
A block of electrical flow within the heart muscle resulting in change of heart rhythm.

Continuous Wave Doppler
This type of ultrasound Doppler uses the change in pitch of the sound waves to provide information about blood flow through a blood vessel.

Fetal Ultrasound Doppler
A device which uses ultrasound to pick up the fetal heart beat and detect the abnormal conditions of fetus.

Echo
A sound wave produced by a reflection of an interface and received by the transducer.

Fetal Monitoring
Monitoring of the baby before birth. This usually refers to monitoring of the fetal heart beat.

Fetal Heartbeat Sounds
Sounds of the fetal heartbeat which like galloping horse, the beat rate is about twice as fast as the mother's heart rate. The frequency of sounds are between 120-180 BPM.

A type of stethoscope, which is especially used for listening to a baby.

High-risk Pregnancy

A method of monitoring in which an electrode is attached to the baby's head for recording heart beats.

Receiver
The part of the ultrasound machine that listens to returning sound waves and converts them to electrical signals.

Ultrasound
A sound wave which has a frequency above the audible human range.

The probe is good for the whole stage of pregnancy, especially for early pediatric/neonatal fetal heartbeat detection, as early as 8-weeks.

2MHz waterproof probe
The probe is optimized mainly for deep penetration for heavy patients and third trimester pregnancy.
